This extremely rare badge was instituted by Oberst von Thoma, commander of the armoured component of the famed 'Legion Condor', which served alongside General Franco's forces in the Spanish Civil War from 1936 to 1939. Freistaat Preussen ‘Shutz Polizei’ Officer’s buckle of the ‘Freistaat Preussen’. This Para military force was created in Prussia to control civil disturbances and reinforce other Police organisations as required. It was abolished in 1936 when the Prussian State force was incorporated into the national police organisation. This superb quality buckle is die struck in brass with a matt white silver plated finish. The highlights are hand burnished to produce a very pleasing effect. Fascist medal of the 1st Assault Legion ‘Taliamento’. This was a military unit of the Italian Social Republic. It was raised in 1944 being reconstituted from members of the 63rd M.V.S.N. Blackshirt Battalion. It was involved primarily in the brutal anti-partisan warfare of 1944-45. The medal is cast from solid brass. It is quite crude (often the case with these late war R.S.I. awards) but the design is very striking. An attractive and rarely seen award.

Rumanian Medal for the Crusade Against Communism. Instituted in April 1942 by King Mihai I of Romania. It was awarded to all branches of the Romanian forces for combat actions against the Red Army. Romanian allies – Germans, Hungarians, Italians and Slovaks were also decorated with the “Crusade Against Communism” medal. When awarded to German military personnel it was referred to as “Kriegserrinerungsmedaille “Kreuzzug gegen den Kommunismus”. This medal commemorates the sinking by Weddingens submarine ‘ U-9’, On 22 September 1914, of three British armoured cruisers HMS Aboukir, HMS Hogue and HMS Cressy. It is believed to have been bestowed by Adolf Hitler as a personal gift on close friends and confidents (See Dodkins Awards and Decorations of the Third Reich). It is the same size as the regular Party membership badge but differs in some notable respects. It does not have the normal wording in the red border of the badge- instead this is left blank. The reverse bears an engraved facsimile signature of Adolf Hitler. The badge is made from solid silver and bears the silver hallmark on the reverse. The enameling is of a very high quality. An interesting and noteworthy badge.

Ostland Treuefahrt Plaque Bronze. This interesting plaque or radiator grill badge commemorates a driving event held in 1933 by various German driving organisations including the N.S.K.K and D.D.A.C. This plaque almost certainly originates from East Prussia. ‘Ostland Treuefahrt’ translates literally as ‘ East Land Loyalty Drive’ and the arcane hand symbol which dominates the design (and represents nationalism and loyalty to the homeland), is shown emerging ahead of the rising sun, above a representation of the Tannenberg war memorial in East Prussia. The design also incorporates the swastika and the date 1933 together with the initials of various participating organisations. It measures 60mm x 110mm and has an antique bronze finish. The reverse is flat and is inscribed with the maker’s name ‘Dorfstatter Markneuekirchen 5’ .

This medal was awarded to members of the Legione di Formazione Camicia Nera Lavoratori “Lucchini” for their part in the operations conducted in Ethiopia. This was one of seven Black Shirt Workers Legions were deployed in newly conquered Italian East Africa in 1938. This large and heavy medal is solid bronze with an attractive patinated finish. R.L.B. Luftschutz Warden’s door plaque. This attractive solid flat backed plaque measures approximately 80mm x 120mm. The design features the R.L.B, (Reichsluftschutzbund), logo of RLB letters and swastika picked out in blue and superimposed on a stylized starburst background. The letters, “L-S,” and “Hauswart,” (Luftschutz House Warden), are embossed below the logo design. The plaque has an antique silver plated finish . These plaques were designed to be affixed to a door advising tenants where the “House Air Raid” Warden resided.

The ‘Fuhrer Plaque’ award. An official award bestowed upon political and state officials in recognition of special achievement. This heavy cast wall plaque which has an attractive antique copper-bronze finish, measures 97 x 141 mm and is approximately 4mm thick. The obverse depicts a profile of Hitler above a swastika and inscription in German which translates loosely as ‘The condition of action is the will and the courage of truth’. The reverse bears another inscription which translates as ‘The first plaque produced from a live sitting which the Fuhrer and Reichsleitung have found to be very good’. A nice quality plaque.

Goetz ‘Watch on the Rhein’ Satirical Medallion’. Struck in response to the French occupation the Rhineland after WW1. It was alleged that many German women were sexually abused by members of the French colonial element of occupation force and the design of the medallion makes explicit reference to this. The reverse of the medal (picture ONLY has been edited) bears a profile of a French colonial soldier. This large medallion, 50mm diameter and finished in patinated bronze, belongs to the same series of Karl Goetz commemorative medals as the famous ‘Lusitania’ medal.

Wound badge of 20th Juli VARIATION.

Wound Badge of the 20th July 1944 in Black. Awarded to those wounded
as a result of the famous 'Bomb Plot' against Hitler in 1944, when Colonel von Stauffenberg planted a brief case containing a bomb during a meeting held at the 'Wolf's Lair' at Rastenburg in East Prussia. Hitler directed that a special wound badge should be issued to those wounded or killed as a result of the explosion. Only 100 badges were made and a maximum of 47 actually awarded. Die struck in solid brass, this badge is complete with the correct original style pin and the reverse is impressed with the maker's mark.

N.S.K.K. Wahlhilfsdienst Emergency Services Plaque. This unsual and attractive plaque was issued during the Plebiscite of 10th April 1938 which was held in Austria to confirm the ‘Anschluss’ with Germany. Different sources state that this was either an arm shield or a plaque for vehicles used by election assistants. The plaque has an antiqued silvered finish and measure 68mm in diameter.

The Italian C.S.I.R. Cross was instituted in August 1942 and awarded to Italian troops who participated in the early stages of the invasion of Russia or ‘Operation Barbarossa’. The cross is white metal alloy with the obverse having a white painted centre. The reverse bears the names of the areas in which the Italian troops fought and also the years that they were present. The Detail on the reverse of the cross is not perfect but traces of the maker’s name can just be made out on the bottom arm. Complete with correct white and black ribbon.

The design makes reference to the emasculation of Germany by the western allies whilst ignoring the real threat of Bolshevism emerging from the East. The Golden Party badge was a special honour badge conferred upon Nazi Party members who had, as of 9th November 1933, registered member numbers from 1 to 100,000 and who had unbroken party membership. Instituted on the anniversary of the Munich Putsch, this special award recognized those Nazi party members who had been members of the N.S.D.A.P. throughout the so-called ‘Time of Struggle’ from 1925 to 1933. Because of the requirement for unbroken service in order to qualify for the Gold party badge only about 22,000 awards were made.

Adolf Hitler Pewter Plaque. This is one of the better examples of the many Hitler plaques produced during the Third Reich. It is nice quality with a nicely executed Hitler profile. Cast in solid pewter with a flat reverse, it weighs just over 330gms and measures100mm x 140mm. The plaque is dated 1938 and is marked with the designers initials. It also bears the legend ‘ Zur erinnerung an euren ehrentag’ (in commemoration of your honour day) together with an un-identified signature which suggests that it is some kind of award rather than purely ornamental. It has a polished finish with one or two patches of dirt than will easily wipe off with wax or metal polish. We have left it exactly as found so that you can decide whether you wish to polish it more or leave it as is.

S.S. Cyanide Ampoule container. This is an exact replica of one of the the containers for the cyanide capsules that were manufactured by the S.S. and issued to S.S. personnel and top ranking Nazi officials during WWII. It has been recorded that Heinrich Himmler personally offered these to those individuals who remained in Hitler’s Berlin bunker in April 1945 and Himmler took his own life by this very method. The tubular container is turned from brass and has a threaded lid which is stamped with the original manufacturer, SS contract number and date: ‘Tesch u. Stabenow, Hamburg, S.S. 77/42’. This extremely heavy non portable award was authorised by Adolf Hitler in 1937 to recognise those who had made donations of horse and equestrian facilities to the National Socialist Riding Corps of th S.A. This double sided plaque measures 115mm x 120mm and is cast in solid metal with a blackened finish. The design of the obverse incorporates the effigy of a thoroughbred horse together with a large eagle and swastika framed within an oakleaf wreath.
